HOW WE WORK

Our Operation Model

Our operational model is designed to provide immediate and compassionate care to those we rescue. Each of our homes is equipped with a dedicated rescue team, consisting of trained nursing staff, caretakers, and paramedics, who respond swiftly to calls for help. The teams operate ambulances fully stocked with first aid kits, hygiene supplies, emergency medicines, and essential clothing, ensuring they can address the urgent needs of every individual they rescue.

Information about individuals in distress comes from a variety of sources, including community members, volunteers, local authorities, other NGOs, and media outlets. We also operate a 24/7 helpline that connects us directly to those in need, allowing us to act quickly. Once alerted, our rescue team springs into action, providing immediate care such as first aid, nourishment, and personal hygiene support. After completing any necessary legal formalities with local authorities, the individual is brought safely to one of our homes.

Upon arrival, each resident is assessed and assigned to a ward that best suits their specific needs. Here, they receive comprehensive care, including medical treatment, nutritious meals, clean clothing, and a safe place to rest. Our aim is to not just meet their physical needs but also to create an environment where they can heal emotionally and psychologically.

During their stay, we actively work to reconnect residents with their families. Our teams, in collaboration with local services and police, make every effort to trace the families of our residents and facilitate a respectful reunion. Meals are provided at scheduled times throughout the day, and residents are encouraged to engage in various activities such as cooking, cleaning, caregiving, and other tasks that promote a sense of purpose and community.

We operate on the principle of the three ‘R’s: Rescue, Rehabilitation, and Reintegration. This process ensures that every individual we help is given the best chance at recovery and a pathway back to society. For us, the journey is not just about alleviating suffering but also about restoring dignity, hope, and a sense of belonging.

Our Team and Volunteers

Gharpan Foundation’s strength lies in its dedicated team of staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to provide personalized care to every resident. From doctors, nurses, and therapists to support staff like cooks and caretakers, our diverse team ensures that each resident receives the attention and compassion they deserve. Our work is further supported by a large group of volunteers who share in our mission, lending their time and skills to create a nurturing and supportive environment.

Medical Care

The health of our residents is a top priority. Most individuals arrive in critical condition, requiring immediate and ongoing medical attention. We have a team of skilled healthcare professionals, including general physicians, surgeons, psychologists, and specialists, who provide on-site treatment and care. For cases that need advanced medical intervention, we have partnerships with local hospitals and specialist facilities to ensure that every resident receives the best possible treatment.

Nutrition

Proper nutrition is a cornerstone of recovery for our residents. Many arrive malnourished and in poor health, making a balanced diet essential for their healing process. Our nutrition program provides carefully planned meals, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner, along with fruits, milk, and protein supplements to support their overall well-being and recovery.

Worship and Recreation

We honour the diverse backgrounds of our residents, providing facilities for worship according to their individual faiths and customs. Each home has a dedicated space for spiritual practices, ensuring that everyone feels respected and at peace. To support emotional well-being, we also offer recreational activities, including music, television, and various forms of entertainment, creating a warm and lively atmosphere where residents can relax and enjoy.

Governance

Gharpan Foundation operates under a structured management system with committees and executive boards at both the national and local levels. Each residential home is guided by its own team of managers who oversee daily operations and ensure that the highest standards of care are maintained. To uphold our commitment to transparency and accountability, our operations are regularly monitored by coordinators who report their observations to the central office, allowing us to continually improve our services.

The joy of giving is not in what you give, but in the different you make in someone's life
